Gentle is powered by The Vera Scan by Koning
A completely different kind of breast imaging.
How the Vera Scan compares to a mammogram
(under compression)
(or you can mandate no contact)
(gravity positions the breast)
Diagnostic Screening under current fda rules
We only accept "Diagnostic Screening" referrals at this time. These patient scenarios qualify.
Mammograms have felt painful or scary
If you've put off screening because of pain, anxiety, or a difficult experience in the past, you're not alone. The Vera Scan was designed for you. No compression, no discomfort. Just a calm, dignified experience that makes it easier to stay on top of your health.
You have dense breast tissue
Your doctor may have told you that you have "dense" breasts. This is common, and it means a standard mammogram can be harder to read clearly. The Vera Scan's 3D imaging sees through dense tissue, giving your radiologist a clearer picture.
You have breast implants
Implants can make standard mammograms less effective. The plates don’t compress fully to protect the implant. The Vera Scan uses gravity to position the breast. In this position, the implant is suspended and can be inspected by our radiologist — giving patients a complete picture: implant integrity and cancer screening in a single visit.
You have a known or suspected finding
If you or your doctor noticed a lump, unusual discharge, or something that just didn't look right on a prior scan, the Vera Scan can take a closer look - without compression, and without the anxiety of a repeat mammogram.
You have a strong family history
A personal history of breast cancer, a prior suspicious or inconclusive mammogram, or a strong family history can all mean earlier and more frequent screening ordered by your doctor. The Vera Scan offers a thorough, comfortable alternative for patients who need to stay vigilant — without the dread or discomfort of a painful exam.
Cultural or religious considerations
We understand that for some patients, physical contact from a technician, even in a medical setting, can feel uncomfortable or conflict with closely held beliefs. The Vera Scan requires minimal technician contact, and we are committed to accommodating your needs with dignity and respect.
How to get your appointment
Watch a video on the basic steps.
Getting a Referral
Three simple steps
Ask your doctor
Talk to your doctor and ask them to complete a Gentle Breast Imaging referral form for your Vera Scan if you meet one, or more, of the criteria above. Download the form below.
The referral form will be available when we are accepting patients.
We receive your referral
Your provider will send our referral form back to us. We'll also need copies of your prior breast imaging (if applicable) for our radiologist to compare as a medical best practice.
Come in for your scan
Once we receive your referral, we will email and text you to schedule your exam on your own time. Pick the time that works best for you from your desktop, tablet or mobile.
Pricing & Payment
Simple, transparent pricing.
Gentle will operate on a self-pay model until insurance companies offer this benefit. Here are our introductory rates:
Flexible payment
Payment options
We get it. Self-paying for care can be hard; especially if you are already paying for health insurance. That is why we offer three ways to spread the expense, so your health does not have to wait.
Simple payment plan - 50/50
Pay 50% when you schedule your appointment, and the remaining 50% on the date of service. No interest. No fees. This way you can spread the expense over two pay checks or credit card clearing dates to help with your cash flow.
HSA and FSA payments
Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) are funded when your employer collects contributions from your paycheck before taxes, so these "pre-tax" dollars make all healthcare expenses a little cheaper.
Credit and debit cards
We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Pay in full when you schedule your appointment and get those rewards that you love from your favorite credit card.
Day of Your Scan
What to expect on the day of your scan
No special preparation is required for most patients. Here's how your visit will go for a standard Diagnostic Scan without contrast.
Check in
Arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete check-in. Our team will greet you and walk you through what to expect.
The scan
You'll lie face-down on top of the Vera Scan device. You will insert each breast in a large padded opening in the platform. One at a time. After each breast is scanned and the technician has checked for image quality, you'll return to your changing room.
You're done!
That's it. No recovery time. No soreness. Get dressed and you are on your way. If your doctor does order contrast for your scan, we'll ask you to rest in our comfortable observation room for 30 minutes after your scan.
Your Results
Read by a board-certified radiologist
Your images are reviewed by a board-certified radiologist with specialty training in CT breast imaging. A written report is sent to your referring doctor, typically within 2 business days. Your doctor will review your results with you.
Results are sent directly to your referring doctor; not to you. If you have questions about your results, please follow up with the doctor who referred you.
